'We think 500,000 is a ballpark figure,' said Macalintal when asked the size of the new botnet.

Kjella writes "A little over a week ago we discussed the EU's forbidding of disconnecting users from the Internet. But even after having passed with an 88% approval in the European Parliament, and passing through the European Commission, it was all undone last week. Many would claim that DRM is bad, and perhaps rightly so. But it's unfortunately a necessary evil in the videogame biz (at least it is if you ask almost any company this side of Sins of a Solar Empire publisher Stardock). SecuROM in particular is frequently employed by developers in order to prevent pirates from illegally playing their games.
